Worst Wedding ever

My friends, a couple, just went to a wedding this past weekend in VA. My gf was a bridemaid.

While they were standing around with the Bride's dad at the reception, he (the dad) was introducing her to one of his friends.

The friend said something like, "Wow, it's nice to finally meet you, I've heard so much about you.  How old are you now? And how long has it been since you were adopted?"

To which the bride replied, "Dad, am I adopted?"

I called bullshit on the whole thing, but my friend swears up and down that it's true and this how this poor girl found out she was adopted - at her wedding reception.

One more reason not to let your parents strong arm you about inviting their friends to your wedding. hahaha

Re: Worst Wedding ever

  • Indifferent  Damn.

I have a funny one, courtesy of a former co-worker (let's call her A, and her husband B, because that happens to be their initials and I think that works nicely):

B's father is a big-time doctor and they invited all of the other doctors in his practice to the wedding.  A and B weren't thrilled with the idea of a bunch of strangers at their wedding, but B's parents paid for the whole extravagant affair so whatever.

One of the doctors had been flagrantly cheating on his wife with a secretary or nurse or something, and everyone in the practice knew about it but his wife was unaware (whether she suspected, I don't know).  The other doctors basically shunned him for his behavior and he was planning on leaving the practice shortly after the wedding.  To be polite, B's parents invited the d-bag but insisted that he wouldn't come because of all the tension.

Surprisingly, the wife RSVP'd yes but said that her husband couldn't make it, so she'd be bringing a friend in his place (yeah, I know, who does that).  The day of the wedding, everyone is sitting at the reception (wife and friend seated with the other doctors) when the cheating husband and his mistress come in!!!!!!!

A, my friend, said that she had no idea until B's parents told them later, but apparently the husband thought his wife had RSVP'd yes for the two of them, but wasn't coming, and that it would be okay.  The whole things blows my mind.  I was skeptical when A told me the story (it sounds like a soap opera, after all) but she says that it really happened.  There were no huge theatrics, the wife and her friend left and the husband and mistress left shortly after, but they did wind up getting divorced according to B's parents.

Can you imagine YOUR WEDDING being the place that a wife found out that she was being cheated on?  Yeesh.

  • So glad my reception was a low-key white-trash affair compared to these.Stick out tongue
Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker For two people in a marriage to live together day after day is unquestionably the one miracle the Vatican has overlooked. PersonalMilestone
  • I totally believe both of those stories, because about half of the world are douches who only think of themselves and their agenda and don't have a spare thought for anyone else.
