Moving to the Boston area!
Just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. I'm a long time Nestie who is slowly making my way north (first MD and now PA). DH just accepted a position in Canton and we'll be making the move in the next month or 2. We're spending the next couple of weekends coming up to look at housing options.

Re: Moving to the Boston area!
Well hello there!
That is fun!
Welcome!
Canton is a very nice town. I personally don't know much about the towns south of Boston but there are some ladies on the board who do. Feel free to ask us questions about the area!
ETA: Your daughter is adorable!
I live in Canton! Welcome:)
Its a nice town, close to 95, 93, 495, we find it convenient. There are 2 commuter rail stops that go into south station, and have decent schedules. There is a shopping plaza Cobbs Corner that has everything right there, starbucks, shaws, Gap, ATL, Bath and Body, Nail Place, Marshalls, Hallmark, etc. My gym is also there which is nice, it also has a salon/spa attached.
In Dedham (about 15 minutes away) there is another large outdoor shopping plaze w/Whole Foods, Sephora, etc which is a great.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions etc. Have you thought about where you'd like to live?
Cool!
We're looking either around the Canton area or perhaps closer to the Quincy area. DH is trying to think long-term in terms of being able to commute from wherever we land if he takes a job closer to Cambrige in the next few years. Decisions, decisions.

I see you have a LO so I'm sure you'll be looking at the schools as well. I've heard the ones in Canton are good (I don't have any kids, except ones with fur). The town next to me Sharon has good schools, but it is a little pricey. Quincy has the red line that goes into South Station as well, We live w/n walking distance to the commuter rail so we never have to deal w/ parking at the commuter rail, it can fill up really quickly.
Welcome! I recognize you from the national boards! :-)
I like Canton but am also a big fan of the south shore (you mentioned Quincy). (I live in Marshfield.)
If your husband is working in Cambridge (eventually), then it's a straight shot on the red line (subway) from Quincy. There's also parking at Quincy, if you were coming from Weymouth, Braintree (don't recommend high school there), Hingham or Duxbury ($$$$$). Marshfield is also very nice, with access to the ocean, route three, etc.
Welcome!!!
Your travel path resembles mine... I grew up in Maryland, went to school and worked in New Jersey before moving up to Boston. I have loved Boston!
Good luck with your move.
I grew up on the South Shore so while I have mad love for the area, commuting from Hingham/Dux/Marshfield to Canton is a nightmare. My mom currently commutes to Canton from Pembroke and it takes her 1.5 hours each way.
Welcome to the board Dr. L!
