Trash the Dress?

Anyone do this? Whether it was trashing it or rocking it....DH and I are wanting to do it ASAP (my dress JUST fits so I cannot gain much weight before it's too tight) We were thinking of trying Untermeyer Park in Yonkers but went yesterday and the part where all the architecture is permit only now. Are there any other nice places to do this? Thanks girls. My photog came up with that park as a suggestion along with NYC...not sure we like that one though.

Re: Trash the Dress?

  • I did mine on the beach. Mine didn't get trashed, as much as a little dirty..Enjoy, it was so much fun.

  • I didn't do it with mine because I was pregant before the weather was nice enough for the shoot!

I did a shoot for another Nestie at Oakland Beach in Rye and it was a fabulous location - interesting structures, beach, rocks and park all in one place and I didn't need a permit. As the photographer, I was very happy with all of the shot opportunities.

  • Aaron doesn't want to do the beach. So I think that is out.

There are still a lot of other places there without getting in the sand or water because of the structures and park. Maybe Pepsico Gardens in Purchase?

  • Are there places in Sleepy Hollow? DH was looking at it online and thought it might be cool, not sure though if there is a charge to take photos.

Not really unless you go in to one of the historic sights like Phillipsburg Manor.  I don't know about the need for permits though.

Nic, I always forget about the estate!  I think there is a small fee to go in and park but the grounds are gorgeous and expansive.

  • A friend of a friend went to 5 Pointz in Long Island City.  (It's graffiti by permit/ train yard.)  Never in my life would i think of this place for trash the dress, but her pictures looked so cool.  Although, her dress wasnt totally trashed- it was more like rock the dress.  Just a thought. I have no idea about permits though.

  • What is "trash the dress" or "rock the dress".  I've never heard of this.

    Thanks!

It's a photoshoot where you can wear your dress again and do some crazy creative things instead of being "careful" like on the wedding day.
