  We just got back from Portland and it was beautiful! I think in the warmer weather we may go back because it was so pretty.  Great shops etc.

  I booked on Priceline and got a hotel room for $53 a night.  I was a bit nervous because the reviews were mixed, some bad some really good. 

  While it was not a luxury hotel by any means, it was clean, staff was friendly and helpful.  It was the Clarion Hotel on Congress St.  I was a little dated, but they are currently renovating (very quietly btw). 

  Worth the $53 bucks to me!

  We like to stay at Meadowmere Resort in Ogunquit (www.meadowmere.com).  They have some rooms with gas fireplaces, an indoor pool and hot tub, and an outdoor hot tub that's open year round (especially entertaining when it's snowing out).  It's little further north than Kittery, and about 45 minutes southwest of Freeport (LLBean and other outlets) from there.

  We've stayed in Ogunquit a few times and loved it.  Also stayed in York once at a great bed and breakfast Chapman Cottage.  Cute place and the food was amazing.
