Correct me if I am wrong, but you vacationed to Cancun recently, right?
We are headed there in May and even though I have been to Mexico, I am a little concerned about safety this time. I posted my concerns on a Trip Advisor forum for Cancun and they blasted me. (I really just wanted recent travelers reviews and instead, they all let me know what a dumb questions it was. Helpful, right???)
Can you tell me about your experience?
Thanks in advance!

Serlace- I am not sure if you can send PM. What I am sure of is that if you could send PM, I wouldn't know how to use it!
Hopefully, Tiffany will see the post and respond about her vacation.
If you click on Contact+ there is the option to PM.
Ooh, I got paged on my first day here... I feel important.
Yes, you are correct. We went for our honeymoon in May of 2010, and again about 2 weeks ago.
To be totally honest, it is as safe as any tourist city in my opinion. In the resort and hotel zone (we even took the city buses) I felt very safe and comfortable. We did venture downtown and it made me nervous, but mostly because of the language barrier and not knowing which bus took us back. Heh...
Just be vigilant about your surroundings as you would when visiting anywhere. I didn't take my engagement ring (wouldn't wear it in the ocean, didn't trust it in the room)...and put your passports and cash in the safe when you leave.
You'll be fine. :-)
Haha - apparently I am in the same boat. Thanks shortgirl for letting us know where the PM is. Still, no need to PM. I was just curious.
Thanks Tiffany! I just wanted some recent traveler feedback. And thanks for being far more helpful and polite than people on an actual travel forum!
I plan to be my normal "cautious traveler", but it is helpful information to share with my nervous nelly family about our trip.
Now if May would just hurry up!!!
No problem! Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
Do you know where you will be staying?
We are staying that this resort: Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand. This is was a rec from a college friend. We are excited to just get away and get some sun!
While lurking on TK, I saw you rave about the Sun Palace (I have stayed at the Beach Palace and Cancun Palace), but it was a little more than we wanted to spend for a long weekend trip.
Very Nice! I think I saw that one last time I was there. The one great thing about Cancun is the beach is gorgeous no matter where you are.
We try to be laid back when traveling to Mexico. As long as the room is clean, the food is edible and the drinks are cold, we try not to get our feathers ruffled.
We always laugh when people travel to Mexico and have unreal expectations for luxury, service and food.
