I might kill FIL

It's a looong story that I actually started typing up until I realized how long it had gotten.  The gist of it is this.  FIL came to visit Saturday evening.  It was to be an overnight stay since he feels that's the only way he can make the hour and a half drive to our place.  (BTW, he chose to move away from ALL the family.)  Less then an hour into the visit he's pissed DH off which is actually a very common occurance during his visits.  I don't know exactly what happened, but I do know DH didn't say or do anything that warrented what happened next.  FIL comes in from out back, puts his plate in the kitchen, kisses Amelia and walks out the front door.  It took me a few minutes to realize he didn't just run to his truck for something, so I asked DH who was casually sitting on the couch.  He thought FIL was in the bathroom.  THE MAN LEFT WITHOUT SAYING A WORD TO DH OR I!!!  DH was obviously a mess after that - definitely angry and, though he'd never admit it, hurt.  He was short-tempered with me, Amelia, our dogs....so Amelia and I spent most of Sunday with my parents so DH could have some space.  He seemed better last night, but still.  I don't get how a grown man could act like that?!
