Hi!

Hi guys! I am sitting in my hospital room with a snoozing little baby girl on my chest. It's quiet and I just finished my loooooovely hospital food breakfast. Ha. Gotta love having a smart phone and free wireless at the hospital. Haha.

I'll write up a birth story for anyone interested later in the week. Once we get home and get settled. But for now here's a rundown. I woke up at 10am yesterday. No contractions. By 10:30 I had one - a really strong one. And dudes they didn't stop. I monitored them on my own (with J) for a half hr. Started timing at 11:00 as I was in the shower - they were spot on 4.5 minutes to 5 minutes apart, each a minute exactly long. It was def time to get rolling. I was having trouble talking thru them.

Called my cuz, she came to watch Gabby, we zoomed off to the hospital. Worst car ride of my life. Omg, so hard. Nurse checked me at 1pm - 8cm dilated. The contractions were unbearable for me. And this coming from someone who went thru med free labor last time. I just could.not.handle.it. I was losing control, crying/sobbing thru the contractions and they were on top of each other - my "breaks" were like nonexistent. I asked for the epidural.

I am disappointed in myself, but I seriously was so beyond control I felt like I would not be able to push the baby out. Boo. So epi was administered super super fast and the relief - omg - I suddenly had my own thoughts, my control, everything back. So yeah, doc showed up (my doc was out of town WTF? But the on call doc who is her partner and actually the OB chief was awesome), checked me, I was at 10, baby practically hanging out. Doc broke my water and I pushed 3 times and she was out. Our second little girl!

We're both healthy and doing well. J went home with Gabby last night and that sucked. :( It was a long and lonely night. I am being discharged tomorrow and can't wait to get home and get on with our new lives. :)

Re: Hi!

  • congrats!!!  happy homecoming tomorrow!!!
  • don't be upset with yourself for getting the epi at all....but i understand the feeling. i remember feeling like such a quitter when i agreed to the c-section...and that was after 36 hours of non-existent labor/being induced on magnesium. for 36 i sat only 1 cm dialated and i STILL had a hard time conceeding to the c-section.

your baby girl is beautiful and you should be so proud! i can't believe how fast your labor went for you! keep the pictures coming if you can :) congrats again!

  • Wow that was fast girl!  Love her, love the name.

Do not feel bad about getting an epidural.  I know you did wonderfully the first time and had that plan too but like you said this was different.

I was very upset about the c-section but its what happened.

You still did fantastic either way!

  • Nicely done!  Congratulations on the birth of your daughter!  Beautiful name too!
