Carpet stain

So when we moved into our house, we had professional carpet cleaners come. Of course, after they left, everything looked good. Then a week or so later, a stain came up in the living room. It wasn't super dark, but was noticeable. My understanding of why this happens is that the stain is now where the soap isn't washed all the way out, and then reappears as dirt sticks to it.

So yesterday I thought I would tackle it. It looks bigger and worse now! I first mixed some oxy clean and water and let it soak for a minute. Then I did numerous water rinses, expanding the size each time to try to blend the edge with the rest of the carpet. It looked ok last night, but now there is a dark ring around it and it looks terrible! It's still damp, but I don't think that's the only problem. Any other suggestions? DH is out of town this weekend and I hate to think he's going to come home to find this is what I did. Embarrassed

Re: Carpet stain

  • Try sprinkling water on the stain, then rubbing it with an old rug until the soap starts to come out.  Press down on it firmly with a dish rag to absorb it, and repeat until it's all out.
