electric stove burnt water rings

We just moved in to our new home and it came with an electric stove. I've grown up with a gas and love the fact that I can just wipe away any mess. Except for what seems like burnt water rings around the burners. Do I just need some extra elbow grease, a special product, or is there an out of the box cleaning tip for this?

 Thanks Ladies and Gents!

  • I have to scrape ours with a razor blade, but I'm pretty sure it'll never look new.

  • We use this.  What I do is squirt on the stubborn parts and let it sit for about 2 mins, then use a sponge w/ a scouring pad on the other side to remove the stains.  It comes right off w/ very little effort.  Then I wipe it off with the sponge side & warm water.  GL!

  • Is there a general store I could find the Weimann's Cooktop Cleaner at? Something like Safeway, Walmart, or Target?

  • I buy Weiman's at Walmart. I've also seen it at Home Depot.
  • Is this a glass top electric stove you have, or one with the four burners?

I'm assuming with the burned water rings it's a glass top one, and my mom always used Comet to get the rings up. Lightly wet the surface, sprinkle on the Comet and use a scratch-free abrasive sponge and I always saw that it just rubbed away. My mom was a huge stickler about her new glass top stove when I was in high school, haha.

The flat razor blade is a good idea, I used to see my mom do that and then use the Comet.

     Good luck!

  • I have tried all these methods, but none of them seem to work better than making a paste of cream or tartar with vinegar, smear it on, and give it a good scrub with a scratch free scrubber.  Wipe it off with a wet rag once you're done scrubbing, and the rings should disappear.  I finish it off with a dry microfiber cloth to get any streaks out and it looks like new.
  • I always use a little soft scrub on our stove.  Put it on and let it sit for awhile.

  • We use a magic eraser, and then once everything is off, DH shines it up with windex.
