update on job interview and face related news :)

So job interview I had a last week was a total bust. It was for a special education job, just as an aide. The women basically told me I was "in no way qualified for the job." (her words exactly) since I didn't have my masters and had only begun my masters program. Well I'm sorry, but if that was the case, why when reviewing my application did you decide to 1. call me and 2. set up an interview and waste my time? Just wondering!!!

Update on face related news: I was VERY allergic to the retin-a which was causing a TON of problems. So now I am on an antibiotic for the acne and to get rid of the reaction I did. And she also kept me on the sulfer wash and added tazorac, which is amazing!! What an improvement already.

So theres your update ladies, job interview sucked, but my face... looking good ;)

but on the brightside, I just applied for 3 public school jobs... fingers crossed!

Re: update on job interview and face related news :)

  • Wow, that is terrible that they set up an interview if they weren't even interested. Obviously you're better off, a work environment with such little value on anyone's time (both yours and the interviewer's) seems like no place you'd want to be. Good luck with the other 3 though!
  • Oh gosh how awful that they called you in for an interview without any intent of hiring you.  What a waste of time.  I hope you get something wonderful soon!
  • How odd she would have wasted her and your time setting up the interview. I wonder if an admin set it up.

There are so many Retin A posters on F&B suffering chemical burns and whatnot. I'm like, Dude, STOP USING IT. It's not for everyone, that is for sure! So glad you stopped using it.

  • I worked as a special ed aide with my BS in Psych.....in a behavioral school no less....thats really stupid that they wanted you to have a MASTERS to be an AIDE....wouldnt you just be a special ed teacher? what is your Bachellors in?

This! I've never heard of such a thing! Do they require their teachers to have doctorates?

  • That is so frustrating about the interview. As everyone else said, I don't understand why they would even call you in if you were just wasting everyone's time. My husband gets calls from recruiters all the time for things he's not qualified for, but that's because they do a key word search on resumes. Doesn't sound like that's the case here, though.  So strange.

Although I always say even a bad interview is worth something - now you'll be a little more comfortable next time you get called. Good luck!

  • That's too bad about the interview. I had one like that too, where I applied for a teaching job, then realized in the interview they wanted an aide. It's tough out there right now for teachers, but I am sure the next ones will go better. Having three interviews coming up is awesome! Good luck!

I have a BA in Early Childhood AND Psychology and I am going for my masters right now in Early Childhood too.. the WHOLE interview I was sitting there like...why?? why am I here?? Couldn't they have just told me on the phone I wasn't right for the job? So frustrating!

  • That's so frustrating about the interview. When my MIL was trying to get a special ed AP job (she has since found one) she went to multiple interviews for jobs that she would never get, even though she was qualified, because they already had someone internally that they were giving the position to. I think it was a board of ed (NYC) or union rule that they still had to hold interviews for outside applicants even though they had no intention of offering them the job, qualified or not. Maybe that's what happened to you?  Either way I think it's awful to make you go through the whole process like that- good luck on future interviews!
