Complain against an MDTA Officer

I witnessed an MDTA officer aggressively driving on 95 on my way home from work on Friday.  He pulled out in traffic and without his lights or siren on, he tailgated a guy in a truck until the guy changed lanes. Then he did the same thing to a woman in a small car, but the woman didn't change lanes.  They were going about 65 mph and he was less than one car length behind her--so dangerous.  It had me so upset that I e-mailed the MDTA and complained.

I don't understand why they think they are allowed to drive like that.  What if the woman got nervous and caused an accident? As fast as they were going, it would not have been good.

I saw him a couple miles down the road again sitting in traffic. He wasn't going to any type of call or anything, he was just being an *sshole.

Anyway, I just got an e-mail from one of the Captain's about my complaint and he wants me to call him.  I don't know why, but I'm nervous even though I know I did the right thing.

Re: Complain against an MDTA Officer

  • at least they are responding to your complaint though....so many times things like that either a. dont get addressed to begin with (kudos to you for speaking up) or b. get ignored by the ones who can do something about it.

Let us know what he says! Yes

  • Good for you! Just because someone is in a position of authority doesn't give them the right to drive like an a-hole. I would just calmly tell him how dangerous this guy was driving and putting other people in danger.

On a side note, ever notice how many cops drive aggressively, don't use turn signals, tailgate etc? It makes me mad.....how are you supposed to be enforcing the laws when you don't even follow them yourself?

  • That's good they responded to your complaint. Last week I almost got run off the Rowe Blvd. bridge by a Delegate talking on his cell phone. Even after laying on my horn, he never looked over.
  • You def did the right thing! I'm glad they are responding to you. Let us know what he says.

  • Good for you. I see so many police and MTDA officers doing this kind of thing. Regular drivers also driving ridiculously that sometimes i wish i were a cop just so i could pull them over.

The Captain probably wants to thank you for bringing it to their attention and get complete details from you. Might even ask if you got the license plate number of the car. If they can pin point who the driver was they will probably take measures to make sure they are reprimanded for their dangerous driving.

I did get his license ID which was in the e-mail.

  • I think you did the right thing. I know someone who works there and I know they'd appreciate the email and take time to address the situation appropriately.
  • Good for you.  I always get so mad when I see them driving so aggressively.  I always respect a cop car that actually sits through a light instead of flashing their lights real fast to go through it, and then turning them off on the other side of the intersection.
