I need to get my backsplash tile done and i was recently quoted $800 (EEEK!) by someone who was very highly recommended. I cannot pay $800! Anyone use someone good that they would rec? This is one DIY project I m not willing to take on!
Re: tile recs?
I would recommend our guy, but he is probably just as expensive. I think tile is tricky becuase it looks so easy on tv, but I think a good tile guy is worth his weight in gold.
Where are you looking at tile at? You could ask them for a list of contractors they work with. We did this with our brick guy (asking at the brick place) and it worked out really well.
This is kind of going in a different direction but there's actually an Iowan blogger who paints backsplashes to look like tile.

Is that price including the tile? If so, I would guess it might be hard to find someone who would do a quality job for less. Like pp said, tile is tough to do perfectly even and correctly, not to mention it isn't very cheap to buy.
I was going to suggest this too!

can you give me your guy's info? i already have the tile and it would be nice to get another quote. thanks!
