Feds- any shutdown talk at your agency?
It's been pretty quiet in my office.
It's hard to tell if this issue has been blown out of proportion by the media, or if there is a real chance it might happen this time.
Re: Feds- any shutdown talk at your agency?
There hasn't been any talk in my office either.
We've been talking shutdown for weeks--at least since before the last CR. We have emergency personnel ID'ed, we have instructions for what we do if it happens and everyone is freaking out about being paid.
We're a little different because it's not like we just don't show up one day--we have animals that need care and long term/delicate (read: expensive) experiments in progress. We've needed weeks to plan.

No word around here either.
It's been talked about but mainly by us - no word from supervisors.
My branch chief did tell someone who was going on vacation to be sure to check the emergency hotline (that tells you whether we're operating normally or not) before coming back to work......
There hasn't been much talked about by the staff around here although I've heard that management has submitted list of essential personnel and things along that line. Being part of the Automation staff they asked me if we had anything critical system wise but that was it.
DH doesn't think that there will be a shutdown as neither party wants to look like the bad guy. I'm not sure as I'm not as up on the news as I really should be. Guess only time will tell.
This is what I'm thinking, too. Neither party will look good if it happens.
I did read that they're trying to pass a one week CR.
OMB basically issued a directive to agency box tops to NOT discuss this with employees until a decision has been made. Most agencies have contingency plans in place and those people are usually that know anything more. Needless to say it's been very quiet around here as well.
I am taking an online training next week and am doing it at home so I can actually concentrate. so either way i will be home and in pjs - either working or not!
this whole thing is such BS. They need to pass a real budget - not another CR.
Such a ridiculous way to run a country/ a government.
I think this will just result in the Dems winning next next year. The GOP/Tea Party looks like a bunch of angry idiots creating gridlock.

I agree with the bolded.
I feel the same way you do, only against the Dems, not the Elephants. To be more specific, both political parties are acting a fool. Both are equally to blame.
Huge dittos to the bolded. Also, excellent screen name. That was one of the funniest things I've seen C&P'd in a while.
My Goodness...another food blog. Featuring: Macarons from a old post with a photo taken by my mom for a break from my crappy food photos!
That's pretty interesting in light of what I'm hearing from liberals on their feelings of Obama being kind of wishy-washy with respect to liberal leadership (one person's wishy-washy is another person's middle ground bipartisan but I keep hearing the former).
It's also interesting since I just spoke to a leadership consultant and she soapboxed a little about Obama wanting to be a transformative leader but is a people-oriented/people-pleasing leader at his core.
He's been pretty quiet about this up until now but maybe this will be one of those defining moments.
