Anniversary ideas?

I know once you're married, your dating anniversaries aren't the same celebration they used to be.  DH and I will be married 3 years this year but we've been together for the past 6 years.  I want to do something for him today and I thought about even making his favorite dinner -- but it's chicken parm and I can't be in the same room as chicken during this pregnancy.  Of course, we can't even go out tonight because I signed us up to take our Baptism class before Baby H gets here.  Do you think putting away the presents from the baby shower and doing laundry counts as romance? lol.

Re: Anniversary ideas?

  • What if you ordered that dinner from a pizzeria/italian rest? Or does your grocery store have a hot food bar? That way he can have his favorite dinner and you done have to cook the chicken??!!??!!

  • i was going to suggest take out - he can have his chicken parm and you can get something else. it's a nice meal, in the comfort of your home!

maybe a special dessert is all that's needed!

  • His favorite cake is super easy and funfetti... but I had planned on making it next week when we celebrated our dog's 7th birthday (yes, I'm a dork but I figure this is the last time we do anything fun for his birthday because we'll have the baby).  I don't want even more cake!

Haha, love it! :)  12 years... that's awesome.  Before DH, my longest relationships varied between 4 months - 1 year.  I got bored easily!  It's the real thing when I want to annoy the same person for the rest of my life ;)

Shoot, I make it a point to bring up our half year dating anniversary.  It will be 11.5 years on May 1.  We won't do anything but I will wish him a happy anniversary.

  • Oh yeah, we definitely don't do gifts and I'm not expecting anything from him today.  Just wanted to make him smile :)  I do expect gifts on our wedding anniversary though!

  • Our dating anniversary and actual anniversary are the same.  (DH picked the day of our wedding and I suspect it was so he didn't need to remember a bunch of dates LOL) This  May will be our first wedding anniversary, but 6 years together.  We decided that we'll go away for the weekend, since we're celebrating both =)
