home security

I am looking into getting a home security system.  Do any of you have any recommendations for companies? I know ADP is a big one... I saw Protect America (GE) too... any insight???

Thanks!

Re: home security

  • We have Brinks (now it's called Broadview) and we're happy with it. It was free to install and the monthly fee is $35.00.

  • did installation include the alarm set or did you have to pay for that? I see some of the systems with all the windows are almost $2000 for some of the companies!

  • we only have our doors wired and sensors in the first floor and it cost an arm and a leg it felt like for that from adt. i wish i shopped around more but we had thought someone tried to break into out house (turned out to be kids playing around) and i wanted one ASAP.

    we pay 33 a month.

  • thanks everyone... i am still researching it. I was hoping it would help our homeowners insurance as well to offset the extra cost... it goes down by $13 a year haha oh well, that's not why we were getting it but I was hoping it would help!

  • We had ADT and never had any problems. The install was $99 and then we paid about $40/ month. It really depends hat kind of promotions you hit and if you are successful at negotiating on a better price or not. I'd recommend their service though.

Have you taken any recommendation from your home insurance company about which alarms they suggest? If you?re looking for a discount based on your alarms, this is the first piece of information you should be getting.
