Minnesota Themed Items?
I KNEW I should have listened when everyone was planning their weddings and making up MN themed goodie bags/boxes/favors. I'm going to Chicago in a few weeks for a girls vacation with friends from all over the US and Canada. There will be about 15 of us and I want to take some small goodies that are Minnesotan, but not bulky because I only have 1 suitcase to take.
Any ideas?

This would technically be copyright infringement. Instead, how about going to Cheapo Records and buying some cds from local musicians. They have a big selection there, and many are under $5 each (some even only $2 or $3). Plus, you're supporting the local music scene instead hurting it. My current local favorite is Joanne James.
I'd get chicago mix popcorn from candyland. It's always a hit. Eating a bag at my desk right now. There's a sticker on the bag that says Chicago Mix, Candyland, St. Paul, Minneapolis, Famous since 1932.
The down side is that popcorn is bulky.

Without getting into specifics, because it can get a little complicated and depends on what kind of license is granted with the download, but for the most part, it's copyright infringement to burn multiple cds of songs, even if you paid for the songs on iTunes. You are only purchasing the right to use the songs in your own iTunes account (and in some cases to burn one "back-up" copy for yourself). Burning multiple copies and giving them away is infringement. Essentially, you're cheating the band out the money they would have made on the sale of another cd.

What she is talking about is a mix CD, not a copy of an entire album, FYI. I realize it still matters.
None of the people at my wedding would have bought each individual CD to get those songs, nor would they have bought those individual songs. So while it may be copyright infringment, no one is truly "cheating the band out the money".

I only make this point because a lot of people have never thought about it (it's sooooo easy to burn a cd) or don't know and would maybe like to be more informed.
It's still infringement whether it's just one song or whole album and whether money could have been made or none. Lost profits are only a calculation of damages, not guilt. You are taking away the band's control of it's work. What if your friends burn copies and give to their friends who burn more copies. Pretty soon, anyone could have a copy and no one would have to pay the band. Similiarly, if I took a photo, I own the copyright in that, and I can post it online. But if you take that photo and post it, you are in violation of my copyright. The right exists in the work, not in the profit.

I found some Minnesota grown wild rice at Cub Foods. It was way cheaper than similar bags at souvenier stores. There is a cute souvenier store on Hwy 7 (I think just west of 494) in Minnetonka that has a ton of Minnesota stuff. The popcorn on the cob might be cute. You put the whole cob in the microwave and pop it.
