Hi! Sorry, I didn't see this until this morning.
Here is the recipe:
12 cups Borax
8 cups Baking Soda
8 cups Washing Soda
8 cups Bar soap (finely grated on a box grater)
Mix all ingredients well and store in a sealed tub.
Use 1/8 cup of powder per full load.
I buy all of these ingredients at Giant in the laundry section. Wal-Mart carries everything also, but I use Fels-Naptha bar soap that's made specifically for laundry. I've heard you can use any bar soap you want for this recipe, but I like the light scent of the Fels. You can also get the ingredients online, but might be cheaper in the store.
Grating the soap is the most time consuming part, but it only takes about 1-1.5 hours and then I'm done for about two years, so it's worth it to me.
It's more environmentally friendly, gentle (probably could wash baby clothes in it) and cost-effective. Hope that helps!

What the heck is Washing soap? lol
For the bar of soap is it like the bars of soap for the bath or what? I have no clue! Definitely interested in trying this though!

Washing soda is an Arm and Hammer product. Don't really know what it is, but it seems to work!
I've heard you can use any bar soap that's finely grated, but I've only ever used the Fels Naptha soap.
Yes, def try it! It really is worth it.
