Need East Bay Valley park recs
J and I are in charge of planning a picnic of sorts in the East Bay Valley as part of the end-of-tax-season celebration. Since S is so young, we don't want to do anything big and bold, that's for the adults later in the evening. The only park I know of is Mt. Diablo State park. Are there any others (possibly with a playground) that are out there? Thanks!!
Re: Need East Bay Valley park recs
What area do you consider the EB valley?
I was thinking Heather Farm in WC is a nice park...
there's the lafayette reservoir, heather farms ... alot depends on what you call the 'eb valley' .. there's also fernandez park in pinole
honestly i wouldn't go the mt diablo state park route .. it's a royal pita to get there
I'm not sure exactly where you're looking at City wise, or how many people you want to be there...those would both help.
Yeah, what do you mean by "East Bay valley?"
Heather Farms and the Lafayette Reservoir are both nice but they get busy. If you want to reserve space there, you should it asap. Same with Mt. D (though I agree with pp that it is kind of a pain to get to, especially from where you are).
There's also Civic Park in downtown Walnut Creek, or Walden Park on Oak Road in WC. Both are nice, but Civic probably gets busier than Walden since it's right near Broadway Plaza.
You might also want to check out the website for East Bay Regional Park District. They'll have a listing and maps of all of their parks and what's offered at each one.
EB Valley would be San Ramon, WC, Concord, Dublin, Danville, Pleasant Hill, etc.
There would be about 8 adults, a 3-year old and 2 infants.
concord community park on cowell rd .. TONS of playground equip close to the picnic areas.
Pleasant Hill Park - picnic tables, playground, shade, swimming pool.
Mt. Diablo - it's a PITA to get there and tends to get hot pretty quick.
Larkey Park - Walnut Creek
Martinez Waterfront park

Oh yeah, Larkey Park! I love that place, and it's pretty easy to get to right off the freeway.
