I need to redo my yard

Does anyone have a recommendation for someone who can get rid of the existing raised bed and haul it away? My husband has been working horrible hours and I can't get out there myself, because of little miss no nap.

I think we are going to stick with planters for now, but am not sure. I am completely overwhelmed.

Re: I need to redo my yard

  • Are there any perennials in the bed or did you just use it for annuals?

Is the dirt in the bed good planting soil?

If you have perennials you could do a free-you-dig-it-you take it post on freecycle or CL for people to come and take those plants.

Also you could probably list the dirt (since it's probably decent soil) for the taking as well- since people in the city would otherwise have to buy bags of dirt for to make a bed.

Someone might be interested in the whole bed- it's worth posting, because you never know.

  • thanks for responding. Craigslist or free cycle might work for the dirt. I did not plant last year, because we were going to redo the garden then, so there are not many plants left. I have two rose bushes that always get black spot and never do that well. I was planning on cutting one down and replanting the other. Other than that I only have three plants and I plan on keeping them. I plan on filling a bunch of pots with some of the dirt, but it really is a large space for the city, about 80 cubic ft.

The dirt is a combination of dirt that was there when I moved in, and some organic soil that my neighbors had left over. Unfortunately it was not the right kind for raised beds and it gets too compacted. I worry about offering it to people, because although.

I also need to get rid of the wood that borders the garden, because it is rotten.

  • You could always offer it as fill dirt- sometimes people have holes in their yards that they need to fill and while a lot of places offer fill dirt for free, it's filled w/ rocks a lot of the time.
