Confused by this McCain ad...

Video here

So I get how usually showing your opponent agreeing with you and giving you kudos would be a good thing for your campaign. However, given the climate of the MPC, I feel that they're almost saying, "Look, this guy who you're all voting for really likes our environment plan."

I'm not articulating well what I mean. I guess it's that they've tried so hard to undermine Obama and have said so many times that he's not trustworthy, not ready, shady, not American, etc., that I;m having a hard time understanding why, all of a sudden, they think his opinion is important.

ETA: Duh, if I had just scrolled down I would have seen this commentary, which sums it  up perfectly.

The thrust of the McCain campaign, especially for the past month, has been that Barack Obama is evil and scary: a metrosexual cosmopolitan celebrity who wants to molest your children while his terrorist friends plot to kill you and his homeboy welfare chiselers from ACORN steal elections so they can then steal your money. Now, four days before the election, McCain shows the voters Obama "reaching across the aisle" to praise his rival in his best calm, reasonable, thoughtful tone.
