Do you take a multi-vit?

If so, what kind? I was taking the TJ's Women Complete, but recently I just cannot for the life of me get it down! It's too big and I end up spitting it out after the disgusting flavor has infused my mouth after sitting there for too long... :(

Any reqs?

Re: Do you take a multi-vit?

  • I take Target's PNV and have no problem with them.

  • DH and I use Kirkland's Multi Vitamins.
  • I started taking Nature's Made PNV before we thought about having a baby because I wanted the hair and nail benefits and I like that they don't upset my stomach and are decently priced. I tried taking One-a-Day women's vitamins before that and found I had to take them after eating a full dinner or they would make me throw up.

  • I take chewable multivitamins, either TJ's or Costco's.  I don't have a preference between the two.  I just end up picking them up wherever I am when we run out.
  • I have a bottle of the TJ stuff you're describing but I almost never take it...  :-/  I really should. But I agree with you that it's really big and tastes awful and that's probably part of why I never take it.

There are those chewable/chocolate flavored ones out now. You can probably get them at most drug stores. I haven't tried them myself but it might be a good option for you.

  • I tried Viactiv (the "chocolate" ones) and I thought they were gross. I take the adult gummies (Vita-Craves is the name brand) because they taste like fruit snacks. I cannot swallow big pills at all so I never even tried those. They even have the gummies formulated for PG women now. You can get them at any drug store or Target.
  • I am taking the dual packet of PNV and DHA by Rainbow Lite. You get them as a package deal, and they are amazing. I don't think I will stop, even when I am not PG.

  • I take NatureMade Prenatal with DHA softgels. I've never had a problem with swallowing them, but have with other multis. Maybe try a softgel if you can, or even a gummy vitamin? I hear they taste good, but haven't tried one.
  • I take Target's generic brand of women's one-a-day vitamins. They're big, but they seem to go down easy and don't taste like crap.

  • Does it make me a wimp if I have to resort to gummy? hee hee!  ;)

It's weird... I used to be able to get the TJs one down just fine. Not any more. :(

If it does, we can be wimpy together. Wink
  • Target PNV. I have to take it at night though due to interaction with thyroid meds and plus I think its better to take then.
  • Yes. I take a prenatal from the local/organic chain food store here. I took Women's One a Day for a long time, but switched when I finished the bottle since they aren't vegan.
  • I used to take the Women's Day performance one, but it always made me sick.  I just bought the WalMart multi-vitamins on Sunday.  I'll start taking them as soon as I can remember where I put them.

  • Maybe this is a silly question... Can you take PNV if you're not PG or planning on being PG?

Yes you can. Its just a slightly different composition (ie more folic acid, less vitamin A, etc). I think its probably a good thing to take if you plan to have kids in the distant or near future. If you dont want kids, then I'd probably find something else as I'd be concerned more about the decrease in vitamin A.
