Do you know anyone who is painfully honest?

My FIL is so honest, he wont even tell a white lie or little fib. He saw me the other day after I had my hair cut and he said " I was surprised to see your hair, interesting..."

He is like this with everything, if he were speeding he might call the police on himself. Its funny at times other times its frustrating.

Re: Do you know anyone who is painfully honest?

  • I think there's a difference between painfully honest and having no filter. To me, your FIL would have both. I have friends that are painfully honest but they don't blurt out every thought they have, they just won't comment on something unless asked about it.

  • ughhh,  yes, unfortunatley.

My grandma (my step-dad's mom).  We went to visit her in FLA when I was like 9 or 10 yrs old and she looked at me, then looked at my mother and said "my, hasn't she gotten FAT".....

    Seriously, no really, seriously?!!?

I love grammie (RIP),  but yes, I will hold that memory forever, and so will my mom.

  • I tend to be at times. I usually don't say anything negative until asked. I have a friend who will just come out and say the most snarky and mean things. I know she doesn't mean it, but it gets frustrating. Yesterday I made a way too honest comment to J.. If I could take it back, I would.. but I felt like it needed to be said at the time.
  • My sister is like that.  She can be downright rude, but it is ok because "That's the way she is" B.S.  It has caused some serious strife in our relationship lately.
