Intro/can I join in on the fun?

I've been lurking here for a little while now and I want to come out and say hi! H and I moved to Gardiner in September and bought a house in January, we are still working on getting to know the area (hopefully some nesties may be able to give us some advice/suggestions in the future). We mostly keep busy working on our house and taking care of our puppy. Anything else I should be telling you?? I hope to be able to join in on some other posts soon!

  • Let me count...I think you make like number 7 in the central maine area :)  That is for sure a good thing!!

I'm Jess and live in Augusta with DH, 1 yo DD, two dogs and our cat.  We have lived in the area about 6 years.

What are you interested in doing?  There are a couple great walking trails (the arboretum and the trails behind cony hs) in the area.  Lots of great places to eat!  We LOVE Red Robin.  Also close by is The Liberal Cup.  I've only been once but it was yummy!

Jump in the conversation anytime and feel free to come to a GTG!!

  • Hello and welcome!    I'm Annie.  My husband and I live in Topsham with our little guy and a dopey, but totally cute choco lab.    My husband grew up in Gardiner and now teaches there (and his ENTIRE family lives there) so I'm very familiar with the place.  I second Jess on The Liberal Cup and Brianne (shuga) knows lots of other yummy places to eat.  The Rail Trail is definitely a great walk and my in-laws walk down Lincoln Ave around the Gardiner Farm a lot (and "the castle" - the call it) and I think there is another small hiking trail with a "Falls" name in it off the River Road.  I love the shopping up there as well!
  • Hello! I moved to ME from SC 6 years ago to be with DH. We just moved into our new house here in Kennebunkport. My daughter just turned one, we have 2 dogs and a cat. We used to, and hope to start again this summer, foster rescue dogs.
  • Hi I'm Sarah, married to Luke and we live in Pittsfield. No kids; no pets.

  • This is exciting, you ladies are FAST!

Thanks for the info on the trails, we have done the rail trail a couple of times to Augusta. Now that we have Ali it would be nice to check out some of the ones you suggested, I'm sure she would appreciate a variety.

I agree the Liberal Cup is great, we have spent quite a bit of time in Hallowell. DH grew up with a similar downtown area so he really enjoys the local shops and restaurants.

I look forward to getting to know you all a bit better. A GTG would be wonderful, I have been anxious to meet more people in this area!

  • Yay!! I am just across the river in Randolph! I've lived in the area for 30 years so if you have any questions let me know. :)

    And welcome!

  • Hi and welcome! I'm Mollie, DH Kyle and I are currently living down in Newport, RI through June (both originally from the Bath/Wiscasset area) and I am pregnant with our first child. There are a lot of fantastic ladies living in the central Maine area, so you'll be able to find tons of advice on fun stuff to do (ahem, go to The Liberal Cup!). Welcome and look forward to seeing you around!

  • I'm really late (thanks, work!), but no less sincere in saying, "Welcome".  I live in Brunswick with my husband and our almost 4 month old daughter. I'm still new to Maine so I don't have many recommendations. However, if you find your way to Brunswick this summer stop into the Gelato Fiasco on Maine Street for some gelato goodness. You won't be disappointed (and you can try like 10 flavors while you're waiting in line).
