Re: Moms & Moms to be
I didn't read the article.
My birthing class talked about getting up and moving around during labor. Or even standing up but leaning forward, while H put pressure on my lower back. This helped me out quite a bit. Obviously once I got the epi I was bed bound. Plus I was bound to the bed when they had the fetal monitor around my stomach, and the other band watching contractions.

i think it's a great idea. unfortunately most hospitals and doctors arent very receptive to these ideas. and like danielle says, once they strap those monitors on- you move the wrong way and they set off all sorts of bells and whistles.
You have a midwife? Im so in the dark about all this. When we have a baby I want to go med-free but I dont know anything about mid-wives
I was able to move around all through my labor. I was on Pitocin, so I had to have an IV pole, but they allowed me to take that and my monitors with me to walk around the halls, move around etc. I spent a good portion of my hard labor in the bath tub, and when it came time to push, I alternated between using a squatting pole to squat, and laying on my back.
My OB wanted me on my back for the actual delivery, but I spent most of the pushing time in a squat position.

Baby Sister is coming soon!
Makes sense. I think thats up to each mom at least for the labor part.
The only thing is trying to figure out how to have monitors on without them going crazy.
I am so glad that I had the monitors on because they quickly saw that Ava's HB dropped everytime I had a contraction and it wasn't safe for her...that was all within an hour so I don't know what would happen if I hadn't had that
