Hey ladies! I have an HR question, hoping someone on here might have some information on this topic.
I gave my two week notice yesterday. Come 4:30 they decided to have tomorrow just be my last day. I have talked to a few people and they think that there might be a policy (or something) that if I gave a legit two week notice, but the company end's me that day, they have to still give me the full two weeks worth of pay. Have you heard of this at all? Thanks!

Congrats to my super sweet BFPB, veronicafvr, She's a SEP '11 momma

Re: HR help?
Is your new company a direct competitor or similar industry to the current one?

Nope. I was in recruiting and will be a nanny.
Ah, nope. Employers have a right to do this! Basically you QUIT, so there is no way they can "fire" you... but there is no "rights" you have to working your full two weeks.
Sometimes an employee totally slacks off so the boss says bu-bye. Sometimes the data is confidential enough they say you're done.
Now that said, NICE employers who are not wanting you to have access to confidential info in your job may tell you to go home and COULD pay you the full two weeks.
Sorry that happened to you but at two weeks you're a "lame duck" to them!
