Does anyone have experience with a Midwife. Since we will be ttc this summer, I am starting to look into a new obgyn. i like my current practice, just not all the Drs. the one i dislike the most happened to be the one who delivered L. I am looking into a smaller practice and the thought of a midwife came up. i really like the idea of one, but im not sure that i can just see a midwife. i would like to see a dr with a midwife on staff. and if anyone has any recs for a westchester/putnam one, even better! thoughts?
Re: Midwife
I have no recomendation but wanted to let you know ive seen a midwife in my practice for prob the last 10 years. I honestly didn't know at first when I was younger. But she was wonderful. She basically told me that when it came to delivery she could do everything but surgery. She was very down to earth and not the crunchy/granola type that doesnt believe in pain meds, etc..... She didn't end up delivering A (which I was ok with).
I just found out that she left the practice I was with so Im still debating following her or not. GL with your search!
I delivered VBAC at Phelps 2 yrs ago and had a good experience with a midwife. I specifically didnt look into having a midwife present and was apprehensive about it. But I have to say that it was a very good experience and the midwife who attended on me was Ingrid D.Garcia with the sleepy hollow medical Group. Incidentally my OBGYN was on vacation right around the time of my L&D but the nurses and the midwife were awesome! The OB on duty wasnt even present (and actually on hindsight the OB's presence wasnt really needed as the nurses/midwife knew what they were doing) when I delivered my DD. I am due in another 6 weeks and hoping to have Ingrid on duty during my second L & D
)
All the best on TTC and finding the right OBGYN!
