Re: PIP Challenge.. CAKE
I loved our cake! It tasted just as good as it looked too!
Groom's cake
I liked my cake, but I liked the inspiration picture I showed her better then what I got....
Our cake was one of my favorite details about our wedding! It was absolutely delicious, and was more beautiful than I could have imagined!
.
I am so glad I changed our cake design at the last minute except for the fact the bow was pink instead of red
but thanks to our awesome photographer she was able to fix that. I loved the cake so much that I ate the top tier when we got back from our honeymoon.
I love all the Guinness grooms cakes!! I can't find good pictures YET AGAIN but here is our delish cupcake tree from far away...
And I can't resist this picture of my niece eating one..

Good one!!!
I am loving these groom's cakes!!! Guiness, anyone???
Our cakes were simply scrumptuous! Each layer was a different flavor. The flowers on top were made of buttercreme painted with edible gold leaf - to match the gold balls on the cakes. My favorite detail was that we used our own antique cake stands to display each of the cakes...so it went well with our theme of "an elegant dinner party"style wedding!
Can't wait to get our new top layer in a couple of weeks :-)
Our cake design was pretty plain, since I went with one of our venue's basic/included designs and didn't care about it enough to pay for an upgrade to a nicer design. But, the claim to fame with my cake is that it was from Carlo's Bakery (ie, the Cake Boss bakery). Hence why it would have cost a ton of money to upgrade the design (hundreds of dollars, at least!). Fahndant....
our cakeS were awesome but we have no awesome photos! (sound familiar yet?)
we had 10 6" cakes with photos from over the years on them. our top cake was labeled 2010 and this photo doesn't show, but we hopped in the photobooth before the guests arrived and put a photo strip frame with that photo in it on the 2010 cake!

Taking a break from being poked and prodded
And now I want cake.
I can't get to my pics here, so I'll PIP later when I get home.
I am soooo envious of your Guinness cake!!! Mine pales in comparison to yours!!! Also I looooove your wedding cake! Was your ribbon a plum color?
I love all the cakes!
Thanks for taking care of PIP Wednesday for me!!! I'll save my PIP idea for next week
This is a good one and now I want cake!!!
Thank you!!
Yes it was a plum ribbon to match the bridesmaids dresses. Our florist provided it along w/ the flowers so everything would match.
Our groom's cake was a total surprise for DH and pretty much all of the guests I think only the BMs and my mom knew....
Neither of us really like cake, so we did gourmet cookies instead! We had 4 flavors (dark chocolate-lavender, chocolate covered strawberry, wedding cake, and red velvet) - we had enough for everyone to have 3 and they were a hit!
But our moms insisted that we cut something at the reception, so we bought a really small cake that matched our colors.

I loved ours, but you can't see all of the detail from far way. The ENTIRE thing had a quilted pattern (in buttercream!) with edible silver pearls at every cross.
You can see it a little better here:
And I LOVED our groom's cake. I told her what I had in mind, but I had NO idea she would make it look this good! Especially since she just does cakes part time out of her house! The thing at the other end of the cake is a mini Lambeau Field.
Danie, your groom's cake is awesome!
