What do you do when you can't sleep?
For about a month now when I wake up in the night to pee (and this happens at least twice a night more likely three times) I can't go right back to sleep. Sometimes it is like 30 minutes or so before I can fall asleep, but sometimes it is more like hours. Last night after being up from 2:30 to 4:30 I got up to eat some cereal, and lie on the couch. After a while I finally fell asleep. Does anyone have any helpful information? I can't take any medicine....thanks!
Re: What do you do when you can't sleep?
Ugh, that totally sucks. And are you still nannying after getting so little sleep (I haven't seen any nanny stories from you in a while!)? I don't have any tricks for you, unfortunately. I typically pass out easily and sleep like the dead, unless I accidentally take a non-drowsy allergy pill before bed instead of ibuprofen...not that I've ever done that
The few times I've had problems I just read or watch TV and hope that I get tired.
Yeah, but I only have the kids a couple of hours a day now.
I haven't, but that is a good idea! Thanks.
Pop 2 advil, usually. for some reason that puts me to sleep.
Now, when I was pregnant I didn't do that. Instead I'd take a hot shower, then let myself cool down. That would usually do the trick.
I will try the hot shower tonight. All the girls on my month board recommended taking benadryl or tylenol pm, and I would rather not if I can help it.
I found that often when I couldn't sleep it was because I was stuck thinking about something so I always kept a pad of paper next to the bed so I could write down any of my random thoughts. Then they were out of my brain and I could focus on sleeping.
If I still couldn't sleep I would get up and read or watch a little TV (I woke up on the couch a few times ... darn those mid-night pregnancy bathroom trips).
It did! I got up only once in the night to pee, but was able to fall back to sleep quickly. I am going to try the same thing tonight. Thanks so much!
Remember, get really warm, then cool down. That is a natural sedative for your body.
I have been doing this for years!
I would not wake up for 3 weeks if I took benadryl or tylenol PM!
What are you doing up at 3am???? Ha ha ha.
I emailed Punky at 3am and she said the same thing to me!
ha ha ha
What is wrong with you people?! I'm yawning just reading this!
