So, I am seeing a new dr who I love, finally! She is very nice, and thorough! However, upon my physical and blood work I now have the following:
Heart Palpitations (had to wear a holter monitor last week and have an echo)
Low Vitamin D (did someone else have this? what are the symptoms?)
Haishamo Thyroiditis (something about antibodies).
Any thoughts? Anyone have any of this??? Just trying to get a handle on it all!
Thanks!
Re: Health questions...urggg
I'm glad you found a doctor that you love.
Hashimoto's Thyroiditis is autoimmune, where your body attacks and breaks down the thyroid gland. A few of my relatives have this. It is easily managed by taking medication, but you will need to take it for the rest of your life.
Sorry that you are discovering all these issues, Amanda! It sucks, but it seems like they are all manageable with meds. Good luck.
My last bloodwork showed a Vitamin D deficiency. I now take a supplement everyday. If your Vitamin D is low, it can (but doesn't always) show up as chronic fatigue or depression, among other symptoms.

I turned 30 last year, and with it came lots of new health issues for me. Fun, fun, fun.
Vitamin D is created by the body when you are exposed to sunlight, so the low level could partly be due to the fact that it's wintertime and you probably haven't been out in the sun much. From what I know, it's not really something you'd have a lot of symptoms for, and it's not a big issue. Getting some sun (without sunscreen on) will help the level come up.
Don't know about the other two things, though.
Glad you like the doctor!
I have Hashimotos
Basically, your thyroid attacks itself. You're at an increased risk of hypothyroid disease b/c of it. From the way it was explained to me, Hashimoto is rarely medicated, but if it does progress, you'll need meds.
Mine did and I'm on levoxyl every morning. I have b/w every12ish weeks (unless pregnant or recently pg then it's every 6 for me).

I have low Vitamin D, it's very common actually, it's just most doctors don't have their patients tested.
All I have to do is take Vitamin D supplements - having low Vitamin D can affect your mood and stuff like that. I do see an improvement taking the supplements.
yes, if my levels are really off, I'm useless - utterly exhausted, slow, gained lots of weight and then start feeling depressed b/c there is nothing I could do about any of it. When DH & I started dating, I'd have days where our date would start with me taking a 10 minute nap on his couch before we'd go to dinner, then I'd nap in the car on the way to the movies (or where ever we went). An early bed time was a must and the most simple things would just wear me out. I was dx'd hypothyroid about 2months after we started dating and after getting on the pills and getting regulated, I felt normal again.
