Ever bought tickets from Craigs List?

I never have, but might have the opportunity to get some tomorrow. I'm not sure why I'm freaking out about it. I keep envisioning either getting busted for scalping, or getting fake tickets that don't get me in the door.

Should I do it?

Re: Ever bought tickets from Craigs List?

  • I've bought and sold tix on craiglist- only sold when I couldn't go to the show b/c something else had come up and sold for face value. When I bought I had the guy show me his receipt from ticketmaster or livenation (can't remember which it was) to prove it was legit. Also, I recognized the ticket type- so maybe try to familiarize yourself with what the ticket should look like. You can look on ebay to see if people have posted pics of tix for the event to make sure what you're getting matches. However, if it was from a presale by fanclub or creditcard type, it might look different. Also you can look at the ticket to make sure it is the right date, time, event, etc when you meet up. Have you emailed about the tickets? Does the person seem nice and legit or shady?

Also, I'm sure this is beyond obvious, but for safety's sake, I always meet in a public place- like a shopping mall- and usually have a friend with me.

GL and have fun if you go!

ETA: if it seems shady to you, don't do it. I realize that is probably obvious, too, but everything else I put seemed really positive, and unfortuanately, there are some jerks out there who are just trying to make money.

  • I have sold my Redskins tickets on Craig's List several times.  I usually meet the person in a public area to exchange and I only take cash.

Make sure to look at the ticket and confirm it is for the correct date.  I would ask for the seat numbers in advance and look at them online to make sure you are comfortable with the location.

  • I bought tickets to a Britney Spears concert (Embarrassed) from Craigs List. We met in person at Tysons and I gave her cash. No complaints, and I'd consider doing it again (although after exhausting all others means of finding tickets--this was a last resort type deal).

  • I bought pink tickets off of craigslist, she took photos of the tickets and emailed them to me along with the confirm and then she put them in the mail after payment.

  • I've done it twice for basketball tickets. In both instances, the tickets were about $50 for two. So, I felt like I didn't have as much to lose as if I were buying more expensive tickets. It turned out fine but in both cases I was nervous as to whether they were going to work.

  • I have bought and sold tickets on Craigslist, it was pretty painless. I ended up getting my tickets for less than face value (quite a bit less), and they had 2 more than I needed, so I was able to sell the extra pair for face value and essentially went to the concert for free:) Just examine the tickets closely before you had over the money!
