Do I need to force myself to eat, even if I am not hungry? I am pretty sure I am eating enough (The midwife said my weight gain was on the high end of normal, but I think I need to up my protein since the MFM said the each baby's abdomen was measuring on the small end of normal at my last appointment.)
Re: PR: Eating Q
Forcing yourself to eat yogurt cup vs. forcing yourself to eat a meal are two totally different things. Since you are growing two babies in there, I'd try to eat a Babybel or have a yogurt cup, or some other high-protein kind of snack (nuts, spoonful of nut butter).
If you are feeling this way ALL day, then you need to step back and reevaluate why you have no appetite and remember that you have to have at least small, full meals here and there for those two babies.
It is most of each day. As in, I am shocked when I feel hungry. I try to eat small meals (For example, this morning, I had some whole wheat bread with peanut butter and a handful of strawberries.) I have 1/2 a baked potato (I know that is a lot of carbs for the day; I brought it because it was leftovers from last night - normally, I am pretty balanced and have a salad or some other less-bread-like thing) with broccoli and some soy cheese for lunch - and I would think that 4 hours later, I should be hungry, but no. Do you think I need to reevaluate where I am getting my calories from? For instance, today, it is a lot of complex carbs, but make sure I am doing more of the things like you suggested?
Thanks for responding so quickly, too. This is getting frustrating, eating because I feel like I have to eat, and not wanting to eat anything.
I am pretty sure I am eating enough, but I can't get a straight answer out of any of my Drs! "Just eat healthy" Oooookaaayy. Thanks. Cause I didn't know that, lol.
You are more than 1/2 way and this is when the babies will REALLY start to grow. IMO, as long as you are taking your prenatal vitamins and not eating a diet full of candy, it doesn't matter how much you eat or how often. Just realize that if you are not giving your body enough fuel, the babies WILL take it all from you and then you will feel like crap. For YOUR sake, I would try to snack here and there, even if you don't want a full meal. Or maybe eat a snack for lunch and full meal at dinner?
Like I said, as long as you are taking vitamins, staying well hydrated and getting enough fuel for yourself to do your daily chores/tasks/jobs, you should be fine. And don't count calories, FFS. Those babies need them.
I would not say more food, but just make sure you have a balance of healthy foods. and then if ya feel like you have an appetite then have the naughtier foods.
the body is an amazing thing I think it would give you clues that you needed more, it sounds like you have been gaining so that is good. I have read that the average woman only needs 250 more cals a day when PG, since you have two I would think that would be up even more, (not sure if it would be double or just up a bit more). 250-500 cals is not too much I read a tablespoon of peanut butter is like 190 cals, so if ya had a PBandJ sandwich , heavy on the PB (up it to 2 tablespoons) would get ya to almost 500 (depending on wh/ kind of bread, jelly does not have much cals)
some day will be better than others so dont worry if you have an off day and you just are not up to eating.
I was overweight (over 200lbs, so not no 20lbs over) I only gained 11 lbs and I was under my prePG weight after the bloating from pictosin wore off (about a wk later birth ) I had Max 2 and 1/2 wks early and he was 7 and 1/2 lbs. I took in enough to grow him and any extra my body needed it took from me!
If the doctors are not worried dont stress about it, as long as you're eating, and drinking!!! drinking all that water makes ya not want to eat, but you have to have the water and gaining (some bigger girls like me can even lose weight and still have big healthy babies - too bad I was not one of them!!) I think you'll be ok.
I hope you feel better soon
