Well, it turns out that Nelson hadn't made the reservations yet when he told me about the surprise. When he had looked at the hotel prices about 3 weeks ago they were about $125 per night & now the same room is $300!!!! We couldn't see spending close to $1000 for a weekend trip that we could do some other time at a much cheaper price. Charleston is only 2.5 hours away from us so it's no big deal to wait.
So, now we're going to Asheville, NC!! We're staying at the Brookstone Hotel & got a great package deal. We're spending 2 nights & the hotel gives us 2 - two day passes to the Biltmore House (They're having the Spring Flower Festival in April & March!), a bottle of Biltmore wine, along with a wine opener, wine glasses & chocolates & free hot breakfast for only $351.00!!! That's the total price not per night! WOW! I'm really excited!
We're celebrating our anniversary on Friday night by having supper at The Dining Room at the Inn at Biltmore. It's very nice. We're having brunch at the Corner Kitchen on our actual anniversary on Sunday before we leave.
I think I'm more excited about going to Asheville than I was about going to Charleston. Hubby scored MAJOR points. ![]()
Re: Change in plans - Anniversary trip
Do you mind my saying that I think this itinerary maybe more awesome than your original plans? Charleston is a lovely place, but I adore Asheville!!!
And the Biltmore is high atop my list of places to see very soon...as I write this, I am trying to figure out when we can get down to Asheville!!
I know you are going to have an amazing time :-))

Stacy, I don't mind your saying that at all b/c I totally agree. I'll let you know how we like the hotel & restaurants after we get back so you can plan your next trip (maybe 2nd anniversary??) to Asheville.
Yes, please do!!! And you know - I think this will be our next anniversary trip!! I'm pretty sure I'm not going to have much luck getting H to take another long trip so close to our upcoming one, as his work schedule doesn't allow for too many long trips away from the office too close together :-)
But for next April? A capital idea! Can't wait to hear how much you loved it!!
