Calling All Bloggers!

I am a blog addict.  I love writing my own and reading them.  If you have a blog and would like to share, I would love to read!

Here is my blog address if anyone is interested:  http://secretsofsmc.blogspot.com/

Re: Calling All Bloggers!

  • I don't blog. But I love reading them :)

I will check yours out! :)

    ETA: It's cute ;)

  • Oh I love to read blogs.  I also follow the cardigan junkie - she was an old knottie.  I tried to write a blog once, but I think I just have a really, really boring life.  I was at a loss for what to write.
  • I am following you now.

I love to read blogs too. I read all kinds - baking, crafts, fitness, infertility. I have a hard time finding the motivation to blog because I either want to write a missive that will take an hour or something that really could have been a facebook status it was so short.

  • Ooh I love to read them, but I don't have one.  Yours is cute!

Can I follow blogs without actually having one?

  • Yes. If you have a gmail account you can follow blogspot blogs via Google.

Or, if you'd rather you can use something called Google Reader and you just add the blog address to your reader and it will show you all the new posts each time you log in. You can add multiple blogs to this and keep track of them all that way and they can be any kind of blogs (websites, blogger, tumblr.)

  • I don't "follow" people because I don't have a blogspot acct, but I bookmark blogs and just check up on them every couple of days.

  • Hmm I don't have any of those accounts.... maybe I will bookmark them like Summer. :)

    Whoa! Cool!

I feel so technologically retarded sometimes.

Does it let these people know you're following them? Because I read random people's blogs all the time.

You can choose whether you want to be a public follower or a private follower.

  • I do the old school bookmarking thing.

I already have so many comments rolling in my head in regards to what is on your blog.  Like - holy moly I have way more than that for "garage sale".  I love the name of the new flowers.  Maybe I will start a blog.  A blog of randomness.  I'm pretty random.  Also, your skin looks amazing in your before shot, so I don't think you need the clarisonic thingy.  ;)

  • If you start a blog, I'll follow it Lacey. :)

Haha - thanks Summer!  I think my previous post is evidence of my randomness.  I'll have to think about it.  Back to that whole 'privacy/security' thinking.  Hmm.

That's why I don't want one. Plus, DH is weird about me telling everyone what is going on in our lives. He doesn't even like that I'm on facebook. I told him to kiss my booty. I'm not one of those people who puts every detail of my life on facebook, and I never will be. But with blogging, I would always be thinking "Would DH want me to blog about this?" And that's annoying to have to keep up with.

Plus, I have no idea who would care enough about my life to read it, either.

I told him people blog about their kids, and what their kids are doing, etc. He doesn't like that. He doesn't like the thought of cyberspace knowing when our kid took their first steps. So, ok, whatev.

  • Thanks for all the compliments ladies!  I am so happy about my new followers.  Feel free to comment anytime.

Serlace-  Obviously, I don't have the most exciting life.  I just use it like an online journal.  I think it will be fun to look back and the end of the year for the memories.

Other notes:  I can understand your reservations about privacy.  You can make your blog private and maybe I will one day, but right now I just don't feel like I am putting anything out there that I would be embarrassed or afraid for someone to read. I try to blog honestly and openly, but like everyone, I have my "limits."  I try to reference my work place and house location by alternate names.

As far as my DH goes, he knows I blog, but he doesn't read it.  Some of his friends do.  There are some things that happen in my life that don't directly happen to me (DH family issues, my dad's health scare) so I try to blog about those things with discretion.  I try to just blog about my feelings on it and not the actual situation those people are dealing with.

Sorry for the novel. I have a busy day at work so I am trying to not post and run!

  • I read a lot of different blogs, mostly about cooking or infertility (random, I know, but I have one friend with an infertility blog, and I found a bunch more that are interesting through hers).

I have toyed with the idea of starting a food blog. I looove to cook, and my DH is a photographer, so you would think bam, instant blog, but we just haven't done it yet.

Our DH's would be great friends.   I'm just saying.    I feel like I've heard all of this before. Multiple times.

I could never blog.   DH freaked out when I wanted to post INTERIOR pictures of our new house on FB for my friends to see.  I get why you shouldn't put exterior...but c'mon.

  • Here's the one to the Cardigan Junkie.  She blogs about fashion, which would be one way to not blog about your personal life.  I just don't know if I'm that interested in something to blog about it.  It's an idea, though!

    http://www.cardiganjunkie.com/

I hope I linked it correctly.  I don't think she'll mind me sharing, because it was linked in her siggy when she was on TK.

  • Tiffany-That's funny about our DH's! It does get kind of frustrating sometimes.

Lacey-That's a cute blog, I don't remember her from TK, though.

I read so many infertility blogs. I wrote a paper on infertility years ago and just kept reading. I have watched some of the women go through so much and most of them have kids. Some of the infertility bloggers are such great writers and I love the community they have.

  • Ok, I've been reading The Cardigan Junkie for like 45 minutes now.

Lacey, this is all your fault.

  • Haha sorry. They're addicting.  The cardigan junkie blogger wasn't a reg.  She only posted a few times, but the link was in her siggy.  So, I clicked it and found it interesting.
  • Cardigan Junkie is great!   Especially for those who are fashionably challenged, like me.
  • Leslie - I feel like I have learned so much from reading these blogs. I am now so aware of how short a woman's window of fertility is and all of the problems that can arise. Whenever we start trying, I will go into it with a greater awareness of what can happen and how truly lucky those who have healthy pregnancies are. Also, my MOH has now been struggling with infertility for over two years, and I feel like it prepared me to know how to help her, what not to say, etc.

  • Well, I started a blog about a month ago... and haven't posted anything since my first "Hi" post.  oops.  Oh well, maybe one of these days.  I'm having camera-to-computer issues, so that's my current excuse.  I'll share if I ever post more :)

  • I feel the same way. Infertility is a common thread in our family and now I grimmace along with my cousins who have been trying for years when our great-grandmother tells them to "just relax and it will happen."

I have literally cried over some of these women I have never met. When one woman got pregnant with twins after multiple IVF attempts only to miscarry at 22 weeks I felt sad for days and she is a complete stranger.

I always tell my DH if I could start all over at 18 I would have gone to school to be an infertility doctor. The why behind the infertility interests me so much. My OB/GYN thinks I am insane when I come in and ask her random questions about things I have read on the blogs. :)
