Re: Something that you never thought...
Cleaning.
I hated doing it when I was a kid, and it wasn't until I had Sami that I appreciated a truly clean house. Now, whenever I can get an hour or so free, I spend it straightening up, because it makes me feel like I'm finally in control of Life again. And it's oddly satisfying.

I hate to agree with MB but cleaning/organizing.
A clean house = a clean life and vice versa.
Also, I love doing homework/studying, etc but it's always been this way. Psychologically, it's the same thing as cleaning/organizing - getting stuff done and having a clean life. Being productive, etc.
Also, kissing, petting, and cuddling with my furbabies.
Running.
I've never, ever been a runner - I HATED when my parents forced me to play soccer because of the running, but I've been trying to run lately and it's been the best stress reliever ever.
I hope I can feel the same way. With the weather getting nicer, I don't have an excuse, and I'm really looking forward to startin the Cto5K program once and for all! My mom's getting me good running sneakers for my birthday and I'm psyched!

Oh, yeah, ditto.
Exercise. But, the happiness only starts AFTER you start exercising so the lack of motivation to START it is my problem.
Ditto all this- I'm on week 3 day 1 of C25k and loving it. I hadnt been able to run since the accident Sunday, and I finally got to go last night. It was a huge stress reliever, even though i did get home and break down and cry. I guess I just needed that.
Me too! I always hated running in gym class but now I look forward to it and get cranky if I can't get a run in. The C25K was the best thing I've done in a while!
I've started the C25k program so many effing times...the furthest I've gotten is week 3. haha - but, when I do it I feel awesome. Hopefully next week I can get on the ball again. I'd like to be able to run a 5k in the fall.
YAY! I love it when new runners find the joy in it somewhere.
I wish I could be more like you all. I hate cleaning and running.
I never thought I'd be much of a gardener, but now that we have our own place I love it. I'm allergic to damn near everything green, so as a kid/teen I never helped my mom work in the garden. Now, I love planting and weeding. Our tulips have just started blooming and it's the most exciting thing!
I would love to start planting pretty flowers in our landscape, but here's the thing: I'm terrified of spiders. And we get a lot of spiders in our yard. I cringe when Craig does yardwork because I know he's had spiders crawl on his hand while pulling weeds.
Isn't that pathetic? I seriously can't garden for fear of spiders. I even get scared when trying to trim dead leaves/stems/flowers from my potted plants for fear a spider's in there.
I wish I had a green thumb... when we first moved into our house, I thought I was going to be the best gardener ever, and tried planting flowers in front of our house. Yeah, that was the biggest fail ever.

I have a cousin who is the same way. Once she left the mall and there was a spider on her car door handle. She had to call her husband, because she couldn't get in her car.
Don't feel bad though. I have no spider or animal fears, but I have severe claustrophobia. We were watching 127 Hours last night, and I was having a little bit of a panic attack just thinking about it.
Without even going to a therapist, you can engage yourself in CBT - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you guys conquer your fears of spiders (well, anything really).
You can just google it or I could give you more information on it.
It's a very common fear and CBT has a high success rate conquering this particular fear, as well as many other fears. :-)
Aww, you must hate crowded elevators! And I haven't seen 127 hours yet, but I'm afraid to. That'd give anyone claustrophobia, I can't imagine being in that situation.
As for your cousin, that's a situation I could deal with. You just get into your car from the passenger side instead and scoot over to the driver's seat without having to touch the driver's side door handle. Then as you drive off, you hope the wind blows the spider away.
DD: Ditto cleaning & running. I do feel a lot better when I do both, but I really have to be in the mood to do them.
Tara: It is not pathetic. I cannot garden for fear of worms. They make me want to puke and I seriously can't dig with a small shovel close to the dirt because of them. I can use a big shovel to dig the hole and I can fill it back in using the shovel becuase I'm far enough away from the ground that I feel like they can't "get me" lol. When it rains and they're all over the sidewalk I seriously have mild panic attacks and if I'm wearing flip flops I fear they're going to bite my toes. I understand that this is insane because clearly they do no have teeth.
It's not insane!!!!!
It's very common and can definitely be worked through, if you want.
Yes, HATE crowded elevators. We went to the Chick Fil A Bowl in ATL this year and decided that riding the metro would be so much better than driving and dealing with traffic. Huge mistake. We were crammed into that subway car like sardines. Of course, the doors wouldn't shut, so we were just stuck there. Then, some dummies started arguing about the game and I just knew a fight was going to break out, and I'd be trampled to death. Worst experience ever.
I'm not claustophobic, but I refuse to watch that movie. B wants to see it, but he got me into hiking last year. I told him if he wants me to hike with him again this year, he's gonna have to watch that damned movie by himself.
Same thing with Jaws. I can't watch that during the summer. February? Fine. I'm not going near the ocean. But July & August. Thank you, but I will pass.
I hate spiders that much, too. So does D. It's one of the things we bond over. He does still kill them for me, though, but it's funny to watch (from a distance, a really distant distance.)
Once I got to my car and there was a spider on the window. I just stared at it for like ten minutes, and then crawled in through the passenger side. Then I drove really quickly so that the wind would knock it off. I also exited passenger side, because I was afraid that maybe it caught back onto the car after it flew off, and was waiting to get me.
Yup.
