Saw 2 KIDS on the corner proudly holding YES ON 8 Signs

They were 2 boys that couldnt have been any older than 10. It makes me so very sad that these kids are being raised in houses were they are PROUD to be against gay marriage. So proud that they would go stand on a corner and hold up signs to get people to ban it.

What happened to teaching tolerance to our children?

I realize that I live in a very very conservative area of CA, but that really dosent make it any better. I wonder what is going to be like to send my future children to school with kids that are being taught these things.

  • Ugh! As I said in a post below, I am lucky that I have not seen a single Yes on Prop 8 sign. I'm not sure how I would react.

The commercials are INSANE, too. They make me so sad.

  • In San Luis I saw a couple "picketing" outside their church with Yes signs. The man had a baby strapped to his chest. Aw, what a cute little biggoted family.

Ditto this. I might behave in a completely irrational (possibly illegal) manner.

I've seen a handful, and it takes a lot of effort to overcome the urge for road rage. Esp the guy who cut me off with a Yes on 8 bumper sticker and PALIN POWER written in giant letters on his back windshield. Also the church across the street and their pastor who lives in my building.

Mr.P's coworker with the Yes sticker in his car who works closely with a gay man better hope I'm in a polite mood at the company Christmas party.

San Luis county was also bad. There are parts that are plastered with Yes sings. I'm talking giant plywood signs on hillsides.

My favorite still is the yard sign on my way to work. Their neighbor put up two No signs. I see your bigotry vote and raise you two equal rights votes!

  • I think I need this election to be over pronto.  I'm losing my faith in humanity.
  • Well hopefully because the kids are that young they will broaden their beliefs as they grow older. Teens tend to rebel against their parents! Even if they don't "rebel" as they get older they will become more independent and will hopefully befriend a gay person who will open their eyes. This definitely happened to many of my son's friends.

This is what really bothers me about the people I know personally who support Prop 8. We knew the same gay people in high school. We had the same gay band director, who was in a loving committed relationship with our band "photographer" (they were out to the rest of the teachers, but not officially to students or parents, so had to use a cover for traveling). I just don't get how you are exposed to that relationship and then want to outlaw it 8 years later.

    In other words, ditto BM*
