What do you know about the Scattante bikes at Performance? I'm super tempted b/c they are having the grand opening in Marietta this weekend and I got the 20% coupon in the mail. I am looking just for a basic road bike, nothing super fancy, just one that fits me and is not 17 years old. 
Plus, I don't want to invest a TON of money if I'm not going to stick with it in the long run. My class is doing the MS ride at Callaway this fall, and I want to be able to ride the long distance. Thoughts?

Have you read my bio? Lots of good info. in there.
I know someone that beat the heck out of his Scattante for several years. I think it's like buying generic at the grocery store (Scattante is Performance's "house" brand.) Sometimes you get a gem, sometimes you get a lemon. Having said that, I don't think there is anything wrong with them. For the price point, they can be a good value. Also look at the Fujis there. If you were looking at a specific model, LMK.
