I have an interview on Friday..

For a job I really want, will you all coach me a little in "your best interview" tips please.

I will be wearing a pantsuit, it is an accounting job in an energy company. With 2 people, who would be my boss and also the HR director.

Re: I have an interview on Friday..

  • Bring extra copies of your resume

Go minimal with jewelry and makeup. Wear your hair the way you normally would (eg, if you usually wear it down, wear it down for the interview)

Google typical interview questions and have answers

Google typical situational interview questions and have situations in mind

Have questions to ask the interviewers, regarding the individual, the position, and the company

Get contact info for each person you're interviewing, and ask about next steps and timelines at the end of the interview. That way you can send TYs and have an idea when they'll be making a decision so you won't have to wonder when to follow up

Send TY notes ASAP after the interview

  • Go to glassdoor.com and see if anyone has done an interview review for the company.  Sometimes it can really help.

PP mentioned most of the tips I would give.

  • Wow, you've gotten really great advice so far.  All I can add is keep a positive attitude throughout, even if for some reason you don't think it's going well.

  • Thank you all so much.
  • Dr. Loretta gave you excellent advice.  The only thing I can think of is to never mention anything negative about previous work/experience. even if it's negative and you have to mention it for some reason, talk about it in positive terms. i hope this make sense.
