diaper rash

oliver has a bad diaper rash....its red and now blistered... i've been putting desitin on it but that isn't doing anything.   is there something else i should use?  is there a reason that he has this severe rash such as a food he is eating or something?!  i don't think its teething as he has 10 teeth and hasn't gotten diaper rash with the first 10.  i can't really think of a "new" food he has eaten and thought it was the antibiotic he was on last week but its been 7 days since he has been on it and its only getting worse.  thanks.

Re: diaper rash

  • You could try Butt Paste.  It works really well on G and I use it on C too.  You could also try Triple Paste.  It is expensive but does the trick.  C had some open sores on her bum a few weeks ago.  They prescribed silvadeen, which we used on G when he was younger.

  • Sounds like a classic yeast rash often caused by antib's. Just use lotramin or neosporin AF under your desitin and it should go away pretty quickly.

Bumps/blisters + hard to get rid of with regular cream = yeast that needs an antifungal

  • We've had better luck with Neosporin AF for yeast rashes (I agree that's what it sounds like). It's less greasy and easier to apply a barrier creme (Desitin Max) if you're going that route (I would). Good Luck...diaper rashes are no fun!

  • Triple Paste is the only thing that got rid of Natalie's bad, bad rash last week.  We alternated it with A&D during the day and just gooped it on thick.
