XP: Grocery delivery?

Anyone here use Safeway (or a different store) delivery service? If so, what did you think? Good? Bad? Ugly?

Re: XP: Grocery delivery?

  • DH manages the Safeway delivery in the Sacramento Area.  So of course he does an amazing job!!!  We have only used the service once ourselves and it was really great.  Very convenient and depending on how much you order you can get free delivery. Or if you like I always get free delivery codes and I am happy to share.  Only reason I don't use it more is that I am a trained chef, therefore I am VERY picky about my groceries.  I try not to be a nut but I prefer to shop for myself.  But it really is great! I highly recommend

  • I use Spud delivery quite often. www.spud.com. I love them. Free delivery with purchase of $40, but you are limited to your delivery day of the week.
  • We used to do it often when the program first started. I was always busy commuting to school and work and then DH was bedbound a lot. It was great for us because they always had free delivery coupons back then. Now they only do it if you buy certain products or spend $150 or more. So it isn't worth it to us anymore. Generally the food was good but sometimes they would sub out things even when we said no substitutions. Other than that, we always had good experiences. But this was mostly about 4-6 years ago.
  • I had a free trial once and it was awesome. But I don't like wasting $8 to have it delivered, we don't meet the min requirement for free delivery and having that 2 hour window that I have to be home...drives me crazy!!

  • We use Safeway delivery at work (I work at an after-school program/preschool where we provide snacks). We don't normally have a problem with them, and we hardly ever get substitutions...I believe you can choose not to allow subs though if you don't want them. The only thing we've noticed lately is that the price of gas has gone up, and so has their fuel charges....each week it's more and more!!
