fed travel reimbursement ?
i'm fairly certain i once saw a restriction on travel reimbursement and per diem based on distance traveled. specifically, i think i saw if your destination was fewer than 50 miles (maybe more/less?) then you were not eligible to request travel reimbursement.
is anyone familiar with this? i cannot seem to find the reg now.
thanks!

Re: fed travel reimbursement ?
My agency has the same rule. But the GSA's Federal Travel Regulations website states:
"?301-10.1 Am I eligible for payment of transportation expenses?
Yes, you are eligible for payment of transportation expenses when performing official travel, including authorized transportation expenses incurred within the TDY location."
http://www.gsa.gov/portal/ext/public/site/FTR/file/Chapter301p010.html/category/21868/#wp1201972
It defines "official travel" as:
"Official travel?Travel under an official travel authorization from an employee?s official station or other authorized point of departure to a temporary duty location and return from a temporary duty location, between two temporary duty locations, or relocation at the direction of a Federal agency."

I would definitely ask. You may have to go through GovTrip to get the official authorization.
