WWYD?

About a month ago, I went to a salon (not where I usually go) b/c they were running a Scoutmob deal for one of those Keratin Express Treatments (kind of like the Brazilian Blowout). The stylist who was super sweet, suggested I buy the Pureology products that they sell because it would help it all last longer, etc. I waited the few days to wash my hair and followed all the steps and used the products. There was no difference whatsoever to my hair. No frizz eliminated. In fact, my hair seemed frizzier than it normally was.  I didn't call and complain since I didn't want to get the stylist in trouble.

Fast forward a month: I went to my usual salon and got the dead ends chopped off and it looks better.  But the situation was bothering me so I decided to email the other salon just to let them know it didn't work and it seemed possibly more damaged but I wasn't expecting anything. Well, the owner wrote me back saying they want to keep my business and will do what they can to make it better whether that means a complimentary cut, strengthening treatments, or products. But they will have a manager examine my hair while the same stylist does it.  I kind of want to go back but 1) i feel awkward seeing the stylist again in this position esp since she was so nice 2) my hair doesnt look bad anymore its just how it originally was  3) i'm not sure i'd truthfully be giving them my business again after since i love my current stylist and 4) I got a deal on the treatment so I didn't pay the full price

WWYD? Sorry this is so long.

Re: WWYD?

  • Might as well get something out of it. If you don't want to deal with the stylist again, maybe you could tell them you'd just like some products.
  • I would thank them for the great customer service and let them know that you appreciate them offering to make it right, but I wouldn't take them up on it. I'd just go back to your regular stylist and stay with her.
  • The frizz and split ends you are describing seem to suggest your hair was somehow damaged. I have read that BKT is supposed to be sealed with a 450 degree flat iron. If that was the case with your treatment that would certainly explain the frizzy hair.  I am not sure if I would blame the stylist over blaming the treatment itself.

  • I'm sorry you had a bad experience! My friend had this done a few weeks ago, and her hair looks fantastic.  I'm jealous. Big Smile  I think she got a coupon for hers too, so it would be interesting to see if y'all went to the same place.

That said, I would probably go back and get it redone.  However, if that makes you uncomfortable, I would go with Nichole's suggestion and ask for products instead.

  • I would thank them but stick with your regular stylist. Maybe say you'd prefer a refund on the faulty product. First, it sounds like going back would be putting yourself into a really awkward situation, and second, who's to say they won't mess up your hair again?
