  • Hm, I'm not sure what to think of this.  I think it's a great idea for little girls and boys to see breastfeeding as a normal part of having a baby and to mimic mommy if that's how they want to play. I think girls and boys alike should have a doll of some sort to start to roleplay caregiving.

I don't however think it requires such a hefty pricetag, the electronics to make all the weird eating noises (bottle OR boob!), or the creepy bra with flower nipples! I think it would be healthy for a little boy with a nursing mother to mimic the feeding action; I think it's weird for him to have to put on a very female piece of clothing to do it!

  • I saw it on tv a couple of weeks ago I don't see anything wrong with it.  If you believe that breastfeeding is a natural and not-shameful activity, then what is harmful about a doll that mimics it?  It's just pretend play.  My DD likes to dress up like a princess and makes race car noises but she doesn't think she's really going to inherit a kingdom or get behind the wheel of an F1 car anymore than she would think she could actually breastfeed a baby if she had this toy.

I'm not into the $90 dollar price tag for such a cheesey and ugly looking doll, but I don't have a problem with the concept.  I agree with Erica and Kimberly that there's nothing wrong with supporting and making breastfeeding seem natural for young children.  Many children who have moms breastfeeding a younger sibling, mimic breastfeeding in play anyway.  I know one little girl who would carry her baby doll in a sling and tell everyone when it was time for the baby to nurse.  I actually think that's pretty awesome.  No one thinks it's weird to have little girls bottle feed a baby doll.  I don't think there really needs a baby designed for this purpose with all the bells and whistles, but I guess, why not, since you have the same kind of bottle-baby equivalents.

I totally agree with you.  I think that most children will mimic actions they see.  And yes breastfeeding is natural and something that both boys and girls can practice in their pretend play.  I think the price and the overly female vest is outrageous.

This. But, I'm a big fan of make believe and don't think it's necessary for my daughter to have a doll that really poops and pees either.

  • I saw this last week.  I don't have any problems with it, but I probably would not buy it even if it was affordable.  Grace just takes one of her regular babies and pretends to BF it by putting it to her chest.  It is pretty cute!
