Letter of Introduction-Por Favor

First off is this a good idea?

I recently received the contact information for someone I would like to work for.  I want to send a networking letter/letter of introduction together with my resume.  My current employer/department actually hired someone for a position where this person had send his resume to the big kahuna a year ago so this seems to be I guess still acceptable in terms of networking.  So I guess the first question is:

1) Is is still a good idea to cold-contact an employer with your interest to work for them?

 2) I have been googling all day for sample into-letters and I can't quite find the right wording.  Anyone want to share a sample with me please PM me or post it below.

 Thanks in Advance.

Re: Letter of Introduction-Por Favor

  • Who/how did you get the contact information for this person?

Why not ask that person to make an introduction and at the same time serve as a referencfe?

I would not send my resume but rather as the person if they were open for lunch/coffee to discuss the industry as you are looking to develop your skills.  Then if the discussion goes well, you can offer your resume.
