Vote for my nephews baseball team!!!
Re: Vote for my nephews baseball team!!!
Shawna, when my sister told me Jose's story I cried! Actually every time I think of him my eyes well up a little. I'm getting to be such a sap in my old age! But some of these kids make me so damn proud!
I didn't know you teach at Alonso, that's great! My nephew is a freshman, Wyatt Reid. One of my all time fav people in the world.
Warning... AW...
http://www.sungazette.com/page/content.detail/id/514451/Something-Special.html I have this newspaper article that I still need to get framed. It's from when he was 12 and in the Little League World Series in Williamsport PA.
I go to every game I can. Unfortunately the hospitality business interferes a little on the weekends, but I get to most Friday night and weeknight games. I've been watching him play since he was 5 so it's really fun to finally have really exciting games under lights with packed stands and not just the crazy parents
How cool! I don't know your nephew but maybe one day I will have him as a student. I don't go to games on weekends either, I actually work for a wedding planning company as well so my weekends are pretty busy. When I do get to a game it's usually on a weeknight when I'm still at school and just walk over to the field for a bit.
Yes, Jose does have a special story and he's a good kid. I had him last year for ESOL and helped teach him to speak english so I'm pretty proud of him and to see him be successful. He's also a good representative for the other kids who went through the struggles of coming here from Cuba and kind of getting their story out there.
