How Do You Celebrate Easter?
If you celebrate Easter, what do you do?
Our family is not exactly the kind that gets together every holiday and celebrates. There are also no kids to buy Easter baskets for and no church services to attend. Now that we are married, I guess I envision doing something with our parents. Just not sure what! Any ideas?
Re: How Do You Celebrate Easter?
You could go to Easter brunch at a nice local restaurant.
We're not religious, so the extent of our Easter celebrations is doing an Easter egg hunt with the kids.
We love Easter! For us, our faith is the most important thing in our lives. At our church, everyone gets all dolled up. The women wear their big hats and spring dresses and the men wear suits. C is the worship leader, so he will probably do a special song. We will fellowship after service and then probably meet up with family for brunch.
For us, we are celebrating the resurrection of our Savior and not a big bunny and eggs. Not that there is anything wrong with that because I know once we have LO's we will do all of that, but we will also teach them the real meaning behind the celebration. But for now, we have all the LO's at church to dote on.

We don't live by family and don't travel for Easter, but we celebrate ourselves. We do pretty New York-y things for most of it, so I guess this isn't really helpful! But for example, last year we went to Good Friday service at our church, then on Saturday we colored Easter eggs and went to Easter Vigil at St. Patrick's Cathedral, and on Sunday we went to the Easter Bonnet Parade on Fifth Avenue. Then we cooked a big fancy dinner for ourselves at home (usually ham or pork tenderloin or some such thing). If we didn't live in New York, all of this would probably be the same except swap out Easter Vigil/Easter Bonnet Parade for Sunday morning service at our church.
Because we live so far from family, we do make an effort to make the holidays nice and traditional, just the two of us.

We used to go to church and the church would do some sort of Easter egg hunt for the kidlets, but since I don't really go to church anymore...My mom might have a special dinner at her house - which I have no idea what that would be since my diet has changed, and she tries really hard to accomodate me (plus, she is a closet vegetarian most of the time.)
She used to get us Easter baskets and stuff. She gets us little gifts now, like maybe a gift card or something.
Halloween, Christmas, and Easter are her favorite holidays to decorate for, so she goes all out on that end. I know she will go all out for our kids, though, so I can't wait to see what happens for the girls' first Easter.
With my family living in FL & me up here, we usually skype at some point so my niece can tell me about her easter basket. Normally, we'd have a brunch at my IL's & then go to my aunts to visit with the rest of my family.
This year, my IL's will be in FL visiting with H's grandma. I offered to do a small Easter dinner at our house for BIL & his GF, H's grandpa, H & I but I'm not sure if they'll be coming or not yet.
H is okay with having a nice relaxing day to ourselves & maybe stopping by my aunts for just a little bit.
So, I guess the short of it is that it's still up in the air.
In the past, we have gone out to dinner with H's family. That was nice, but usually the menu is limited. H is a picky eater, but if you're okay with that, then that's a nice option too.
In the past DH and I have gone to mass with his parents and then out to brunch. Last year was the first year without his mom, so I did up an easter basket for his dad and we went to mass then out to brunch.
This is the first year we've been in Florida (and near my parents). We'll still go to mass, but will probably do an Easter dinner at either our house or my parents. We haven't decided yet.

Fab ideas! Jackson's sounds nice. I Didn't think about that but coincidentally I received an email from Shephard's about their Easter buffet and it included a coupon. That could be really nice (We live near the beach anyway).
I love the idea of Corona's by the pool though! If only we had one!
