The uncertainty is killing me
Am I going into work on Monday or not? I'm taking tomorrow off, so today may be my last day of work for a while. I just want to know one way or the other!
DH is a fed, too, so if we're going to be missing some paychecks, we would REALLY like to know. Do you hear me, Congress?? Get your friggin acts together!
Re: The uncertainty is killing me
Tomorrow is my day off, too. I would honestly enjoy a four day weekend.
Our office is telling us there will *probably* be a shut down thru Monday, only. For as much as that is worth. We are planning on teleworking for the required 4 hour shut-down time.
I know what you mean. I don't want to go through the hassle of postponing things for work with third-parties assuming a shutdown and then everything work out.
Not to hijack your thread - but have you been told that you will have to come in on Monday to be told to go home? This is not to turn in govt blackberry or laptop, but just to be told I was on furlough. That's what we're being told we will have to do. DH is a contractor and the feds he works with have been told the same thing. That seems like a huge waste of time/money to me.
This is what DH was told. At my agency, we haven't been told anything about procedures.
I'm also not sure if M's daycare will be open on Monday if there's a shutdown, so if I have to go into work in the morning, I guess he's coming with me. That will be fun.
seriously! Dh is a fed and now that i'm a SAHM, his is our only paycheck!
Four hours?? That's half a day. Will you be paid for those 4 hours? That doesn't sound right.

DH is with the NIH but hasn't heard a thing about coming in on Monday. He did hear 'theuse of a NIH laptop/cell phone while on shut down was a fireable offense'.
He usually goes in a few hours Saturday morning too, but won't be doing that this weekend I am sure.

I am out tomorrow too but I know our office is having a mandatory staff meeting at 11 am (unfortunately I can't call in because I will be on a train bound for NYC) but it's to go over shutdown info. One of my coworkers is going to send me an email with all the details.
I have a blackberry for work and I know that if there is a shutdown I am not allowed to access it. So I presume that at midnight tomorrow night if nothing has happened, I can't use it Saturday??
Also can they let me know now if there will be a shutdown and if I will need to come in Monday...if I'm not needed, I would love to extend my stay in NYC...just saying...
I'm right there with you ladies! We just had a pointless meeting to discuss the issue - no one really knows anything, even my Director. We're supposed to receive an email tomorrow morning with instructions for Monday if there is a shutdown. We were told to plan on coming in Monday to surrender our laptops (especially bec most people in my office telework on Fridays). Someone seriously asked if we were allowed to leave our houses during the furlough.
I also just received an email with this link:

I'm really at the end of my rope with all of this doom and gloom!!
I'm laughing so hard I'm
OPM says everyone comes in on Monday. I hadn't thought about requesting to telecommute. Hmm....
http://fehb.opm.gov/furlough2011/
We were informed that everyone has to physically come in and sign for their letter, even if it's your telework, AWS, scheduled AL day off and opposite of the OPM guidance. Supposedly OMB won't be making the determination to furlough or not until Monday morning. However, guidance keeps changing, etc and I don't think anyone really knows what's going on-at least at my agency.
However, a group of us will be coming in late, getting the letter and then going to brunch/super early HH.
Doooo it!
If you have to go in, might as well make it worth your while. You might even avoid the early rush hour to get back home.
