Re: favorite parks
Racoon River Park
Naturescape
There's a great little toddler park here in Johnston off of Windsor pkwy in Green Meadows.
There's a great park off of Ashworth (ss+el where is this?) that is nice and shaded with a little bridge leading to it.
Sunrise park in ankeny
My favorite is Jester Park
I'm still exploring parks in the Des Moines area so I'm excited to see what people say!

we are parkaholics! we typically go to Raccoon River Park, Walnut Woods (state park) and Browns Woods (off of 63rd, near the airport) -- all in WDM. my boys like equipment, but they would much rather play in the rocks and walk on the trail and find sticks, etc.
we also like the "train park" in Norwalk (next to the library) and the "red, white and blue park" across from the WDM library ... then you can cross over to City Hall and have a picnic by the pond! Greenwood -- near the DM Art Center. Ashby in Beaverdale is great when the wading pool is open
Yeah- Ashby in the summertime!
) Can't wait!!
We need to get our park meet up schedule going for the spring/summer...I think it sounds like a great idea.
This is Pearson Park, on 19th north of Ashworth. Nice and shaded and quiet.
We also like Ashawa Park in WDM, across from the library, parking on Waterford. It has two sets of equipment, one smaller than the other and is 'sunken' a little, so even though it's not fenced it's not an open run off the slide to the street.
I know.
I meant to do that last weekend and I ran out of time. Maybe I can work on that this week.
I second Walnut Woods and Brown's Woods! I used to take the Nature Club kiddos to both of those. And, of course you know I LOVE Greenwood!
It's wonderful that we live in an area that has so many outoor opportunities!
