Awwwwkwaaard!

Just sharing because it's slow, and this cracked me up..

So, I was at an industry conference in Orlando, and I knew my college advisor (who I always got along with really well) was going to be there, and I haven't seen him in over 5 years now. I knew when his current students would be presenting their work, and I made my way over there and said hi. Basically the first thing out of his mouth is something like "so how's your marriage thing?" And for some reason it made me laugh bec it was so out of left field -- it was more pointed than something like "how's married life?".. So I'm laughing and shaking my head like WTF-kind-of-question-is-that?!, and I go "It's great! How's YOUR marriage?" and at the exact same time, he put his hand through his hair or fixed his glasses or something, and I realize.... oh, crud. He's not wearing a ring! And I vaguely remember that maybe he never wore one..?? but he kind of just says "Uhhh..."  and in one of my EXTREMELY RARE moments of smoothness, I barely skip a beat and say "How's your daughter??" (who is a year or so younger than me and was smart enough to take a couple of college classes with me when I was a first-year).

We talked for a while about what has been going on at the school since I left, and we ended up having lunch a couple of days later and catching up.... never any mention of his wife, though not of a divorce either.... So I still have no clue.. but it was pretty darn funny/awkward.

 .....The end. lol
