Anyone done this before? I got two tickets from work for Sunday and am wondering if we should go. Is it going to be a huge crush of people? Our tickets are for 12:15 so I'm assuming it's a canned tour we're taken on? Is it worth it or skip?
It's our anniversary weekend and we were going to be staying up in Baltimore and doing a Foodnetwork food crawl all weekend. If we do this we'll just come home Saturday night in order to be at the White House by 12:15.
Would you do the Garden Tour or Food Network food crawl (unofficial, self-guided food crawl put together by a B&B. It hits every Baltimore place featured on any Food Network show).
And lame, I know, but is there anything I SHOULDN'T wear to the Garden Tour?
Re: White House Garden Tour this weekend. Questions
I was wondering the samething. My IL's are coming this weekend and wanted to do it...
Thats a good question about the gov't shutting down. I just emailed DH to find out. He's in training and only has work email access and it otherwise shut off from the rest of the world.
In any case, I would go. We went last year and it was kind of cold, but it's supposed to be awesome weather on Sunday. It's nice to see everything in bloom and they've got the marine band and a little exhibit about white house birds. Plus you get some great photo ops
About the times - it's just what time you should get there - you'll have to probably wait in line, but once you get in you have all the time in the world, more or less. It's not guided or anything, but there are people standing around to answer questions if you have any.
I'll ETA once I hear back from DH.
ETA: DH says they'll be canceled or rescheduled if the government shuts down.
We make the rockin' world go 'round.
I'd rather go on the Food Tour. They have a Garden Tour a couple times a year, so you could probably get tickets later. When I went a few years ago, it was pretty much just wandering around designated areas of the South lawn.
Besides, I'm thinking it will be cancelled if there's a shut-down.
