Just had my first pg breakdown

and *of course* it had to be at work. As some of you know I work at a bank. So I did all of my morning paperwork routine, checking for deposits, etc. I grab my drawer (which I'm not even sure I am allowed to carry since it is heavy) walk to my desk and am in the middle of placing it in the drawer when BOOOM! The lid flies off, the whole thing falls to the floor and [an undisclosed amount of] bills and coins fly everywhere! So I say "Are you KIDDING me?!?!" I sit down on the floor, start to clean up and cry my eyes out.

Is this type of emotional breakdown stuff going to happen to me the whole pregnancy?! Ack!

Re: Just had my first pg breakdown

  • I'm so sorry Sad  Just remember you're hormones will get back to normal in less than 9 months.

I've had breakdowns from time to time.  My most recent one was because I couldn't find the new address for a friend that just moved.

  • oh yeah - welcome!

It'll go back to normal a bit after your LO is here, but I'm generally much more emotional now than I was pre-PG

  • I cried in the car the other morning to one of the cheesiest songs ever.

Don't be surprised if it gets worse!! haha.

  • Aw, I'm sorry E.  That sucks.  I really hope your day goes better.  You'll be able to look back and laugh at it soon enough.

Umm..this!  The first 2 months after DD was born, I was a wreck!

  • Oh no, I am so sorry!  Unfortunately it gets worse before it gets better.

One time I cried when the man in front of me took the last blueberry muffin.  It made no sense at all, there were 20 other kinds of muffins most of which I liked...  So embarassing.  Embarrassed

  • I'm sorry about the breakdown - it happens!

FWIW, I wouldn't worry that your drawer is too heavy. Unless you are really straining to lift it, it should be fine. And I think the lifting thing is more of an issue later in pregnancy when your stomach muscles are shot and your joints are looser and your balance is off. I'm super clumsy these days!

  • I have them too...I have said this whole time, I haven't had *that* many symptoms so if I didn't know I was pregnant the only thing that would give it away would be the tears and breakdowns...I cry all the time. On Friday I almost cried when DH told me we weren't going to Melting Pot for my birthday. I was so upset and mad at him, come to find out my friends had planned a surprise dinner for me at Brio. Oops. Oh and I cried at Christmas music too.

  • I don't have any pregnancy experience, lol, just wanted to let you know that I just added you as a friend on FB!  (At least, I hope that was you, if not a stranger is going to be wondering who I am!)

Okay, I thought maybe that was you. I will accept it then! LOL

  • I have second hand experience. We were at my sister's house not too long ago and we were playing Catchphrase, laughing, having a blast! BIL made a joke (something silly) and for whatever reason, my sister (mid-laugh) burst into tears, ran upstairs, and slammed the bedroom door. DH and I looked at each other like "WTF just happened?!" She came back ten minutes later and she was fine. She cries at everything these days. DH is not looking forward to my future pregnancy. Lol.

    Hang in there!!

If it makes you feel better, somedays something like that would make me cry too, and I'm not pregnant lol.

  • Well, I was going to say, I think the beginning is one of the worst phases. I think I cried the most in the 1st tri. But, let me also tell you, I used to be a teller at a bank. That is one of the WORST things. That tray of money falling on the floor. And everyone looks at you like you're an idiot. And the old people just waiting for the bank to open. Yeah. Bad stuff in a good state! Makes me want to cry just thinking about it! Hang in there. Today doesn't mean you'll be crying at everything. Tomorrow is another day!
